Blanc de Hotot buck and Californian doe

This is an F1 litter from a well typed Californian doe and Blanc de Hotot buck.
It is a litter of nine. Four are solid, jet black while five are varying degrees of what look like a HT Sport. They have what look like perfect eye bands. Some have black "mustache" markings. All 5 have a varying degree of spotting or lines down their spines.
Their feet all seem to be white, which is encouraging.

  1. i'm new to rabbit raising and had my first litter on May 20th. Could you explain what you mean by an F1 litter?

My californian doe bred to an English spot buck and this is her first litter. She had 5-1 solid black, 3 white, and 1 that follows the English coloring.

  2. Hi Sandra,
F1 just means it is the first generation of a hybrid. When i breed one of these rabbits back to a pure Blanc de Hotot, the ofspring from that pairing (all their offspring, even if they produce 9 litters) will be the F2 generation.
